In 1997 Terry Brandhorst from Clear Creek Independent School District and Charlie Price from the NASA Johnson Space Center partnered to create the very first FRC team in the Greater Houston Area. 28 years later and the partnership between The Robonauts and our title sponsors, Clear Creek ISD and NASA JSC is stronger than ever.

NASA Robotics Alliance Project

The NASA Robotics Alliance Project is dedicated to increasing interest in engineering, technology, science and mathematics disciplines among youth in the United States.

 

The Robonauts are proud to be one of 60 "NASA House Teams" in the country, representing NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

The Software, Robotics, and Simulation Division (ER) at the Johnson Space Center is responsible for the design, development, testing, and operations of intelligent systems, robotic systems, and real-time simulation systems that facilitate the human exploration and development of space.

 

Most of The Robonauts mentors work in ER and many of our team's alumni end up starting their engineering career in the robotics division.

Clear Creek ISD is a leader in STEM education in Texas. Serving the area surrounding NASA's Johnson Space Center, robotics has become ingrained into CCISD.

 

In 2024 Clear Creek ISD and The Robonauts hosted more robotics events than any school district in the United States.

ARTEMIS LEVEL SPONSORS - $10,000-$50,000

Turn-Key Coatings is a World Class metal finishing company from Houston, Texas. Established in 1984 they have built a reputation for being a World Class metal finisher with customers globally.

 

In between coating parts for aerospace leaders such as SpaceX and NASA, Turn-Key anodizes parts the iconic "NASA Gold" color for The Robonauts.

S&K Engineering & Research is a professional and government services contractor owned by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, from the Flathead Reservation in western Montana.

Many of the Robonauts mentors work for S&K Engineering and Research and S&K frequently hires Robonauts alumni as interns for NASA's Software, Robotics, and Simulation Division.

Jacobs Engineering is a international engineering firm with over 70 years of experience across a vast array of engineering disciplines. 

At NASA JSC Jacobs is the largest engineering and technology contractor, employing hundreds of engineers and technicians across the center.

Founded in 2003, METECS is an engineering and applied technology company. They have a long history of providing high-fidelity simulation, software, robotics and analysis to NASA with contributions to the Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Orion, Lunar Gateway, and Artemis programs. 

The Gene Haas Foundation was established in 1999, by Gene Haas, founder and owner of Haas Automation, Inc., to support the needs of the local community, through grants to such local charities as the Boys and Girls Clubs, Food Share, Rescue Mission, and others. The Gene Haas Foundation donates millions of dollars every year to manufacturing education and the community.
